Bio: María Blanco is Executive Director of the Chief Justice Earl Warren Institute on Race, Ethnicity & Diversity. The Warren Institute is a multidisciplinary center at UC Berkeley’s School of Law engaged in producing research, research-based policy prescriptions, and curricular innovation on issues of racial and ethnic justice. Blanco brings more than 20 years of experience as a litigator and advocate for immigrant rights, women's rights, and racial justice to her role at the Warren Institute. She formerly served as Executive Director of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area, and has also worked as the National Senior Counsel for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and as the head of MALDEF’s legislative office in Sacramento, California.
