Bio:
Jessica Farrar was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1994 and is serving her sixth term as State Representative from northeast Houston, where she works on issues such as reproductive rights, domestic violence, sexual violence, access to prenatal care services, access to higher education and employment equity. She is a partner at Farrar Architects, a firm she shares with her father. Farrar is a board member of the Center for Policy Alternatives and the Rice Design Alliance. As a member of the House of Representatives, Farrar serves on the House State Affairs Committee and the House Committee on Agriculture and Livestock. She currently serves as the secretary for the Mexican-American Legislative Caucus, vice chair of the Women’s Health Caucus and vice chair of the Legislative Study Group. A Houston native, she received her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Houston in 1995.
