Bio: Ellen Harnick is Senior Policy Counsel at the Center for Responsible Lending, a nonprofit, nonpartisan research and policy organization dedicated to protecting homeownership and family wealth by eliminatimg abusive financial practices.  CRL is affiliated with Self-Help, a community development financial institution. Prior to joining CRL, Ms. Harnick was a partner in the New York law firm of Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman LLP.  During 2001-2002, she served with the United Nations Mission in Kosovo on the legal team advising the Special Representative of the Secretary General. Ms. Harnick has testified on mortgage-related matters before committees of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.
