Carmen Berkley
Bio:
As a native of both Pittsburgh and Atlanta, Carmen Berkley began her love of U.S. Students Association (USSA) at the University of Pittsburgh, where she studied Political Science, Communication and African Studies. While at the University of Pittsburgh, Berkley served as President of the Campus Women’s Organization, Director of the Student Vote Coalition, Vice-chair of Political Action for the Black Action Society and held leadership positions within a plethora of other student groups on campus. In 2005, Berkley was elected to the USSA board of directors, and from there she utilized USSA’s trainings and organizing materials. After becoming a Grass Roots Organizing Weekend Trainer and an Electoral Action trainer in 2006, she knew that grassroots organizing would be her life’s work. Now as the Vice President of USSA, she is the Chair of the Board of Directors and is proud to serve millions of students across the country and fight for their right to access higher education.
