Beth Shulman
Bio:
Beth Shulman is the author of “The Betrayal of Work: How Low-Wage Jobs Fail 30 Million Americans.” She speaks throughout the country on low-wage work, inequality, workplace issues, business-labor relations, work and family conflicts, employment discrimination and the role of unions in our society. Shulman has appeared on television and radio programs including “Oprah,” “Now with Bill Moyers,” “Lou Dobbs Tonight” and “Talk of the Nation.” Shulman’s articles have been published in the Wilson Quarterly, John Edwards’ “Ending Poverty in America: How to Restore the American Dream,” and a variety of newspapers including The Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times. Shulman currently co-chairs the Fairness Initiative on Low-Wage Work and works with the Russell Sage Foundation’s Social Inequality and Future of Work Projects. Previously, she was Vice President of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union and an adjunct professor at the George Washington University.
