Bio:
Rashad Pridgen aka Soul Nubian (Dance Artist/Choreographer) Is the founder and artistic director of Motif Performance Group, a project-oriented performance art investigation with a purpose in reflecting the human experience through underground and African Diasporic dance. A fourteen year street dance aficionado and apprentice-based choreographer, Rashad is the recipient of a 2001 Califorina Arts Council grant for his work "TribalHouseHop and his co-production of "Freestyle Fridays" an open dance session for inner-city youth. He has performed and worked with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Rennie Harris's Illadelph Legends Festival, Jacinta Vlach/Liberation Dance Theater, The Living Word Project/Hybrid Festival and was an emerging artist recipient in the Black Choreographers Festival 2005. Rashad will premiere Motif Performance Group and his new work entitled "Interludes to Intimacy" at The Black Choreographers Festival 2009. In the summer of 2009 Rashad will travel to Jacob's Pillow with JV/Liberation Dance Theater in the acclaimed production of "Animal Farm". Currently Rashad is a student in training at the Moving On Center School For Participatory Arts and Somatic Research where his focus is understanding the integration of Somatic practice into street dance and with people of color.
