Content Convergence & Integration 2008

Session: Structuring Content: What will authentic relationships look like in 2010?
Description
Frankly, our customers don't care if our content is in XML or not, or what our tag names are. We care, though, because we have something to gain from good governance of our structures. What sorts of issues should we be considering when we're engineering our content?

Some of the most important conversations at conferences happen in the hallways, when an animated discussion breaks out between a practitioner and a consultant, and perhaps a vendor who has overheard the conversation and joined in to offer yet another perspective. What happens is a frank, balanced discussion that results in the big aha. We wanted to bring those discussions into the conference for the benefit of all delegates, and to help decide which afternoon workshop to attend.

Did Anyone Know What This Was About?
This was by far the weakest session of any I attended. Within minutes of getting started I had the sense that no one on the panel knew what the session was about.

I expected a session that was about "good governance of our structures" which to me is about information architecture and schemas and the many decisions that need to be made when creating and maintaining them. Did I miss the point?

To her credit, Mary Laplante did her best to focus the panel members with questions that were interesting.

I found the conferences I wanted to go to for the next four months and booked my travel, all from Confabb!
