Content Convergence & Integration 2008

Session: Workshop: Using Web 2.0 power for small tourism agencies
Description
Big mandate and tiny budget right? Do you have a pass-thru model and limited ways to generate revenue? How can you differentiate yourself from all the tourism web noise out there? How can you work with larger tourism organizations and other sources of content to enrich your site? What are some ways to save time and money managing your website so you can spend more on images and content and search engine optimization advice? Are there ways you can incorporate social media into your site as new sources of user-generated content?

This workshop will explore what web 2.0 means to an organization like yours. We will confront some of the challenges smaller tourism organizations face and learn some different ways of thinking about how to collect and publish content. We will explore how to make your website the “goto” site for your destination by publishing a collection of useful, reliable and easy to find information. Your site visitors will be able to make destination decisions, plan their stay and enrich their visit when they get there. You will have a chance to think about things, ask questions, talk with other participants and walk away inspired and empowered. Web 2.0 here you come!
