<description>Joe Gollner said that structured markup has grown up in a world where simplicity wins, leads to massive adoption, and then to massive growth.

The complex SGML has been simplified to XML. We've seen the first wave of massive adoption in IT, where XML messaging has enabled application integration. Now we're poised to see massive adoption of XML in content management via XML-enabled architectures such as DITA.

Joe's reference to the &amp;quot;end&amp;quot; of DITA is a reference to the &amp;quot;realization of final purpose&amp;quot;. He suggests that the final purpose of DITA is for it to become so much a part of the infrastructure that it becomes invisible, with the meaning remaining in view. For the author, this means that the creation of high quality content will become as natural as chatting.
