Microsoft will highlight practical examples of how mobile technology can be used to address social and economic issues, through scalable technology and business platforms.
Areas that will be highlighted: Blue Label Telecom and Oxigen, who have introduced mobile payments and models for reaching the "unbanked;" Warana, a mobile pilot using SMS and basic phones to improve information dissemination; and MIDAS, utilising SMS and basic phones to collect healthcare information.
