MobileActive08
Session: Challenges of Mobile Emergency Communication in Emergency Relief
Description
This talk will be about mobile / SMS work being done around the famine
in Ethiopia, the Hepatitis E outbreak in Northern Uganda, and other
currently implemented projects. It will look at how UNICEF can facilitate
the amazing work that the global mobile / open-source community is
doing.
Specifically: how do we support work being done in emergency situations
using SMS and other low-fi technology, and, relating to some other projects, how do we give young people
a say in their future by providing them with access to information and
opportunity for change.
