Pleasure gardens have been linked to a nascent public sphere, an urban renaissance and the commodification of culture in Georgian Britain. Verifying such claims, however, requires knowledge of pleasure gardens outside London, and a willingness to engage historians, art historians, musicologists, literary scholars and cultural geographers. Come join the conversation. Proposals for papers considering Victorian and non-British pleasure gardens are particularly welcome.
