Research on the disk-halo connection in galaxies has been advancing rapidly during the last twenty years, mainly due to immensely improved observational facilities and techniques in all wavelength ranges. With the increased spatial and spectral resolution on the observational side, and numerical methods and computing power on the theoretical side, we are now able to investigate the various processes that regulate the disk-halo connection in the Milky Way and external galaxies at different redshift in a systematic way. The major goal of this symposium will be to stimulate an intense discussion between observers and theoreticians on the different processes related to the interaction between disks and halos in galaxies by addressing fundamental questions with an eye on realistic modeling of such a phenomenon.
