The sixth annual International Conference of Territorial Intelligence will take place in Besançon (France) from October, the 15th to October, the 18th 2008, on the theme Methods and Tools of Territorial Intelligence.

After the conferences of Alba Iulia (Romania) about territorial development and of Huelva (Spain) devoted to governance, it will be the third annual conference organised by the CAENTI, Coordination Action of the European Network of Territorial Intelligence.

This action is funded under the Sixth Framework Program of Research and Technological Development of the European Union in the framework of the thematic “Citizens and Governance in a Knowledge-based society” that aims at supporting and promoting the social sciences to lead quality research activities in fields that are linked to public policies.

The CAENTI objective is the integration of present research actions on the tools of territorial intelligence to give them a European dimension. It wants to promote the comparative research so as to design and diffuse tools, methodologies and research protocols accessible to the researchers in social sciences and to the actors of the territories sustainable development. It aims at constituting data sets that will be applicable for the multi-disciplinary research activity and for the territorial development.

It started on March, the 1st 2006 and will end at the end of February 2009. Indeed, this conference, organised by the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences) of the University of Franche-Comté that coordinates the CAENTI, will constitute the closing conference of this action.

It will also be dedicated to the project of network of excellence that is already supported by the French National Centre of the Scientific Research activity.
